My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cooper! Cooper is a happy, friendly, 50 pound, 1½ year old pit bull who's a waggy, licky bundle of goofy affection-- he's never met a person he didn't like! He'd love to snuggle with you on the sofa or leeeeeeeean lovingly against you or sit on your feet or rest his 8,000 pound head on your lap. He would ESPECIALLY love to share that sandwich-- but he'll wait patiently at a polite distance because he's a good boy.

Cooper plays a ridiculous game where he pushes his head under the sofa throw (with the entire rest of this body sticking out) and you have to pretend you can't find the doggie and then you uncover his head and THERE's the doggie! If you've ever hung out with a two year old you probably know this game. :-)

Outside, he loves to play "chase the squeaky snake on a rope". He has great play manners and is careful of people, for an awkward young goofball anyway. He's friendly towards other dogs, although he has a typical dash right in, "yeehaw!" pittie greeting style which some dogs will find off-putting. Cooper's a lean 50 lbs and very athletic-- if he jumps straight up he can get the top of his head over the neighbor's 6' privacy fence to take a peek!

Cooper's a very smart boy and a fast learner. His ideal family will take him to classes, which he'll love and be a star at. You've got a head start since he already knows sit, down, stay, and come! You can watch videos of his early training sessions at http://youtu.be/ACp9dTL7PkY and http://youtu.be/04zhkn4PFeA .

Cooper walks well on a leash, but he hasn't had a lot of exposure to the world, so everything is new and exciting and needs to be sniffed or stared at. Regular long walks are all he needs to gain a little more experience.

If you have a good sense of humor and think that having a 50 pound eternal puppy sounds like a blast, your home might be the one Cooper's been waiting for!

The adoption fee is $300.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.Cooper
