Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET RUBY -
As you can see from your calendar, it is not Tuesday, and our newest doggie is not gleaming red but she is a GEM. This beautiful little 8 1/2 month old female puppy is a free spirit and like the Rolling Stones' song, 'Ruby Tuesday,' our rare, 8.5 lb, long haired, akc (no papers), chocolate and white piebald Dachshund puppy will 'hang a name on you.' She is so cute and cuddly AND she loves to laugh...just look at her photos. Once you see her, you'll be beaming too, and you'll know you've found your purpose in life. Like all puppies, RUBY enjoys playing outside so she needs a secure fenced yard to run around in. She is leash trained and does well in the car. Ruby has lived with a cat and another Dachshund and has done well around one young child. She will probably do well with other animals, as long as they're properly introduced. Any children should understand how to respect dogs. RUBY enjoys playing catch and howling at fire engines. She is very healthy, has good teeth (just look at that smile) and is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. This beautiful, sweet little gem finds herself in need of a loving, stable forever family who will continue her puppy and obedience training. Is that you?
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give RUBY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
