Facts about Guiness

  • Breed: Shih Tzu/Maltese Mix
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 7945840-D2010147
Guiness was surrendered to us by his owners when they ran into financial issues. He is about 6 to 7 years old, but Guiness needs to go to a home with an experienced dog owner. He loves children, probably because he was in a home with one. Guiness is food motivated but whoever adopts him needs to go slow and give him time to adjust to a new home and family. Guiness needs to be visited several times, he is insecure and may bite if he is uncomfortable. UPDATE: Guiness has been with us quite a few years, and even though he is adorable he is still fearful and defensive. He LOVES a few people very much and does well with them, however, he does not like to be handled. If you can devote a lot of time and effort to him, he could be a good dog - but it will be a large committment.

PLEASE NOTE: We require all interested parties to come to the shelter to meet the pet, complete an adoption application, and interview with our Director. We do not do same day adoptions or ship animals. For additional information on our adoption policies, visiting hours and directions please go to Abandoned Pet Rescue.

About Abandoned Pet Rescue, Inc.

About Our Shelter...

Abandoned Pet Rescue is a 501 ( c ) (3) IRS tax-exempt, qualified charitable organization that rescues, shelters, and cares for countless abandoned and abused animals and finds them new homes. We have been serving the South Florida community since 1996. Our no-kill animal shelter is located in Ft. Lauderdale, where volunteers of all ages help perform the duties of running the shelter and our operations on a day-to-day basis, creating a mutually beneficial relationship between animals and the community. By conducting neighborhood sweeps, APR helps reduce the pet over population by spaying and neutering feral cats with the use of a mobile veterinary facility.
