Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lightning: 11 year old neutered male black Lab 95 lbs
Sadly Lightening needs to find a new home in his senior years. His owner died unexpectedly and he was taken to animal control. The owner’s grandson got him out of the shelter and has taken him into his home but the landlord said he has to find a new home for Lightening. GGLRR met Lightening and we knew from the start we needed to bring him into our program and help find him a home that he can live the rest of his life!
Lightening has been a well-loved pet for his entire life. The owner got him when he was a puppy and kept him at his antique shop with another dog you can see in the photo. He has been an onside dog his entire life and sleeps on a dog bed at night. He loves all animals and just have a BIG smile on his face when he meets new dogs and people! The best thing he likes to do is snuggle and lay at your feet. He likes to go for car rides but he needs help getting in and out of the car. We have him on a diet right now and trying to get him out for regular walks as he needs to lose at least 8-10 pounds. Lightning would do well in a home with other dogs, cats or kids. He is a dog that only needs 1-2 short walks per day. He takes treats easy from your hand and knows a few commands but he really wants to just curl up at your feet!
We got Lightening into the vet and do a full health check on him and got him neutered. He is up to date on his shots, microchipped, full blood panel – which all came back great, x-rays, ear cleaning and a dental. Lightning has some back end issues and we got him on Rimadyl to help him. (He should be on this ongoing to help him with arthritis.) He can walk, get up and down but he does need some pain relief.
Lightening would make a great companion and would make anyone smile as he never seems to stop smiling! He has had a good bath and he has a very healthy coat.
He is located in Santa Rosa.
