Chalky has survived all of her life out on the streets thanks to a “Cat Angel” who cared for her (food/ medical attention when needed), but sadly she and several other cats have lost her “Cat Angel” when he passed away. When NTCR became aware, out went the volunteers and quickly rounded her up with several others just before the very harsh winter of 2013. When she came to the shelter with her buddy Cheeky, they were both extremely scared of people and would huddle into each other, avoiding any kind of eye contact. Chalky has made leaps and bounds since her arrival at NTCR in that she will now make eye contact and has started to learn to trust people! With a slow approach Chalky will bow her head and when she feels the soft gentleness of petting she puts head up and waits for you to continue with a full body pet. She has just started to purr and raise her bottom to show you her enjoyment. Chalky will need a special owner who is patient, understanding and loving that will help guide her along her journey to feeling safe, secure and becoming the confident cat she wants to be. If you want to be that special owner who helps Chalky along her way and enjoy the benefits of watching this beautiful soul blossom, please fill out an adoption application and contact us.
