My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The kind people at CAA Rescue gave me my name Dalton, I was not always called that though but it has been a long and hard road these past couple of months and I am really just trying to forget my past along with who I was and how I felt. CAA Rescue has given me a brand new start to life and I really just want to focus on all that my future can be with people who truly love me.

I was a stray for quite some time, a lot of people kept seeing me and finally someone decided to help me off the streets. I am very grateful for it. I spent some time at a nice shelter with a sweet lady who came to give me kisses every morning with breakfast. I am so very happy to have regular food now… please if you come meet me don’t be put off by me being on the skinny side; I still have to put on weight but we will do that slowly over time. CAA Rescue volunteers say in no time I will be a happy chunky monkey … boy-o-boy I do hope so because the pain I felt from being hungry is not something I would wish on anyone ever!!!!

My age is guessed to be at around one and half years old, but that is just a best guess based on my teeth and it all depends which vet looks at me and how much experience they have had with stray and rescue dogs.

I am dog social but with my humans is where I always want to be – not sure why though… you would figure that after abandonment, left to fend for myself, being lonely, scared, hungry, cold and thirsty I would have a hard time trusting again but NOPE not this Sad Puppy Eyed Man! I absolutely love affection from humans. I love hugs and to give kisses!

I have not been cat or kid tested just yet but I think I would prefer a home with no children or at least children over the age of 12 years where they can better understand the hardships I have been through and be gentle with me. I also would like a little attention myself to work on basic commands to make me into a good and solid canine citizen. Right now I know very little but the nice thing is that I am smart, I aim to please and I like to eat! So honestly you could probably teach me to deal a deck of cards in an afternoon with just a positive attitude and a bag of liver treats!

I have not been left alone for any extended period of time so we are unsure if I have any destructive behavior in the home. Right now I am clean in the house but be prepared to share your couch with me when you are watching TV, your lap when you are hard at work on the computer, the kitchen floor when you are cooking (I will help you clean up any messes I promise) and your heart because I will steal every little piece I can and treasure it for always!
I am a good dog, wonderful on the leash, love my walks and I need never to feel hungry, cold, tired or the broken heartness of abandonment again
Please email CAARescue@gmail.com … while I really like my foster daddy it is time I find my real forever family! I have been traveling a long time to find you and I won’t give up or in until we are together at last!
