My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mario is a darling little Pekingese Chihuahua mix who was surrendered by his family when they moved and no longer had time for him. He grew up in a home with older children but it seems like his favorite person in the world was his dog walker, who spent time with him and took him for lots of walks.

Since he spent so much time alone in his prior home, Mario is looking for a new family that has plenty of time to keep him company, a family that enjoys including him in their daily activities. He adores being with his people and loves lots of attention. However, he is not pushy or demanding.

He is a humble guy who really appreciates being loved but is not used to being doted on so it can take him just a little while to really believe that you love him. He is not instantly cuddly, but he highly values every minute that he can spend with his family and friends. Once he realizes he has won your heart, he will cherish you and want to be with you forever, a faithful and affectionate companion who likes to stay close by.

Mario is good on the leash, good in the car, and well behaved in public, so you can take him all kinds of places with you! He likes to go visiting and even sleep over with you when you are visiting relatives, etc. But, if he needs to just hang out at home by himself, he is also good in his crate. He is also used to an invisible fence.

Sweet Mario is gentle, quiet and submissive so he prefers a more laid back lifestyle vs a very active family with enthusiastic kids. He is a distinguished gentleman so he would be happiest in a home without little kids. Older, calmer children should be just fine.

He is good with other nice little dogs but is intimidated by big and boisterous dogs. He would be fine as an only dog or as a gentle companion to another sweet dog.

Mario is a petite 16 pounds and has a beautiful, soft coat. He is eight years old and his dog walker, who has known him his whole life, says he is healthy and fit. She thinks he is fabulous and is sure you will, too!

Mario is housetrained.
