My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lovely Roxette is the latest ingenue to join our rescue, following an unceremonious abandonment by schmuck owners in a large a high kill animal control facility. Just 3 years old, Roxette had become a friendless soul, and rightfully frightened at her uncertain fate.

Roxy is a true beauty, and is likely a mix of German Shepherd and Smooth Coat Collie. Her bridged, elongated muzzle seems to be the dead giveaway as to her Collie roots, and her short light blond coat requires minimal grooming. And how about those ears! One ear is perpetually flopped, giving Roxette an impish, inquisitive expression.

Roxette is a happy-go-lucky dog, who always greets strangers with a friendly tail wag and a sloppy kiss. She is slow to settle down, and gives off the kind of frantic energy that you'd expect from an underexercised double dose herding dog, left to her own devices. Obviously, her former owners ignored her physical and mental needs, and then gave up, just when Roxette was hitting her prime. Roxette has a magnificent spirit, a WOW personality, and has been surprisingly easy to redirect with good exercise and obedience work.

Roxette would be a great fit for an active single or couple who can provide a fair amount of exercise. She would excel as a running, walking or hiking partner, and would adjust easily to her handler's pace. Roxette could also join an active family with teens, that would provide alot of attention and vigorous play. Small children would unsettle Roxette, and we don't think that cats would appreciate her at all!

Roxette has awkward dog manners. She seems to want to play, but some of our Alpha Divas percieve her as impudent and rude, so Roxette draws more than her fair share of rebukes. She has improved with training, and she could join a multi-dog home with a calm, well trained, tolerant dog or two.

Roxette's adopters should be prepared to continue her obedience work. She has grasped many of the basics, and has the potential to reach Canine Good Citizen Certification. Roxette has good house manners and is housetrained and crate trained, although adopters should have appropriate expectations of a recently spayed girl, and troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur during her transition to a new routine.

Roxette is in excellent health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
