Kyler here: I finished my heartworm (HW) treatment and get to run around in the backyard! Oh, it feels so good in the cool weather, rolling in the grass with my BFF and foster Lady (well, she is still a bit scary). My weight is now 18 pounds and foster Lady said that is perfect for me. I've moved out of my room and now have a bed in the big room so I get to watch what everyone is doing! Foster Lady here: Kyler is so darn cute and he tries so hard to trust me but he is still not ready. Several times I have called him and he came running up to me, only to realize what he was doing and turn around. He is a sweet boy but needs a bit more time before he trusts me enough to come all the way up to me. Now that HW treatment is done Kyler will get more time out and about on a leash. He has stayed still and allowed me to do a bit of grooming around his face with some clippers. He is more relaxed than when I first got him, and allows me to pick him up but he is still a bit stiff. He is most comfortable and playful around my female Cairn when they go outside after a meal; he always goes up licking her face like a pup with their mother. Kyler would do best in a home with another friendly dog - he will learn best having another dog around to show him things and build his confidence. Col Potter did a DNA profile on Kyler and it is a hoot - definitely not what I expected. He is terrier and Norwegian Elkhound mix. I tell him at least you got the gray muzzle of the Elkhound. Kyler is ready for adoption and he will need a home that continues to work with him on building confidence. He is such a sweet boy and I love to see him running around in the backyard enjoying himself!
