My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
My name is Butch. My foster parents often call me Baby Boy, because I’m so cute and crazy.

How old are you?
I was rescued as a 4 month old puppy and will be around 6 months old at Christmas this year. We think my birthday is somewhere in July!

What do you look like?
I am a 15 lb pit bull mix puppy and will probably grow to about 40 lbs. I’m jet black with a white chest and socks. I’ve got long legs and run like a gazelle, only smaller and less gracefully.

What do you like to eat?
I’ll eat anything! But I prefer premium dry food with the occasional treat of mixing in some canned pumpkin.

What kind of personality do you have?
I’m funny, energetic, and love being around people. I love to run and jump, but I will calm down and nap in my crate whenever you need to sleep or take a break from my affection. I play hard, and then play some more.

Describe your perfect day
My perfect day includes lots of playing outside! I love to play fetch and run around with the football in my mouth. Inside, I love bully sticks!

What is your favorite toy?
I love playing with the stuffing that my playmates tear out of their stuffed toys. My foster parents love seeing me running around with a ball of fluff, and then they scold their dogs for tearing them up in the first place.

Do you know any tricks?
I can sit and shake for treats. I’ll do anything for treats. I rarely bark, which is a fantastic trick as well.

What scares you?
I’m not afraid of anything! I may back off if something startles me, but then I’ll charge ahead and conquer that Wal-mart bag blowing in the wind!

Do you like cats?
I’m not sure, as I haven’t met any yet.

Do you have any doggie best friends?
My foster sisters are my best friends, although sometimes I think they want to chew me up like their stuffed toys. So far I am still in one piece!

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d love to be anywhere with some space outside. I’m happiest when I’m running through the leaves, chasing a football, and chewing on my foster sisters.

How is your health?
I’m in great health and have all my puppy shots!

How long have you lived in your foster home?
I moved into my foster home in mid October.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I share a home with my foster parents and their 5 and 7 year old female pit bulls, Jaden and Lexie.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
My foster parents work during the day, so when I’m home alone, I go in my kennel. I may squeal once or twice, but then I pass out and take a nap.

Where do you sleep?
I sleep in my crate with my favorite blanket. I sleep through the night and haven’t had any accidents.

What do you love about your foster family?
I love that they give me attention and that they have protected me from going to a shelter. I love that they are consistent and have taught me how to live on a schedule. I’ve learned when to sleep, when to go outside to potty, and when I’m allowed to eat! I also love that they give me time to play with my sisters, but also closely monitor our play time so I don’t get too silly with them.

What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
Even Chance rescued me from animal control after I was brought in as a stray. Even Chance took me in so that I didn’t have to stay at a shelter!

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they spend time in our homes. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
