Obie's Story...
Obie is a 5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. He was surrendered to Friendship because his owner was having some health problems and he was too much to handle. Obie has lots of energy and is a very active dog. He's as friendly as can be but would benefit from some obedience training. This boy has a short attention span and needs to learn to focus. This social butterfly loves people and attention but because of his strength older kids are recommended. He likes dogs too but plays rough and has never been around cats. Obie would love an active family that will give him the time, attention and training he deserves.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Obie, a Elyria German Shorthaired Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shorthaired Pointer for sale in Elyria, or seeking a German Shorthaired Pointer dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shorthaired Pointer breeders who help with German Shorthaired Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
