My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This gorgeous love bug with the happy smile is Max! He's about 1-2 years old, is a smaller medium-sized dog and had a rough life for such a young guy. He was adopted as a puppy then dropped off at a shelter on his first birthday to be put down! He was then saved by a rescue group that put him into a loving Foster Home but unbeknownst to the Foster Family, the rescue was in the midst of being shut down and wouldn't send food or pay for Max's vet visits and even threatened to put him down if they returned him! His Foster Family wasn't going to let that happen and kept the beautiful boy. Soon after that, their landlord said he couldn't stay permanently and had to go! The heartbroken family had no choice but to find a rescue to help him. And, that's when we stepped in! Max is now being loved & spoiled in one of our Foster Homes!

Max is neutered, current on his shots, microchipped and house trained & crate trained. He's not a fan of the crate but goes in easily and tends to whines a bit but settles down quickly. He gets along great with smaller dogs and smaller animals, such as ferrets, birds & a pet squirrel, and will give kisses to any animal that will let him! He is afraid of big dogs and large cats (that are bigger than him) so he will need a Forever Home with only small animals. He is fantastic with kids and many times throughout the day you can find him snuggling or playing with his Foster Family's 7 month old. He's very gentle with kids and even takes his tennis balls & stuffed toys to the baby to share! He's definitely a dog meant to be with a Family!

This sweetheart's middle name should be Love because this handsome hunk is full of it! Max loves snuggling & cuddling, sitting in laps and giving lots of kisses! With his sweet face, beautiful eyes & loving personality, he's very easy to love! He's a happy guy when he's around his people so his Foster Family moved his dog bed into their room, which he loves. He'd gladly sleep on the bed with him if they let him but he's satisfied being in the same room with them. He enjoys giving love & affection as much as he enjoys getting it, especially ear scratches & belly rubs! One of his favorite activities is snuggling with his Foster Family's kids. He likes being with his people and wants to do what they're doing, even if they're taking a bath! He's such a sweet & silly guy!

Max is a playful boy who is mostly laid-back but gets spurts of energy and would make a great running or jogging partner! He'd be happiest in a Forever Home with a fenced-in yard where he could run around and burn off some his energy. He loves running around the yard & exploring and recently had a blast playing in the snow, running & jumping while trying to catch snowflakes. His favorite toys are ones that squeak and his favorite game is Fetch with a tennis ball! It's a lot of fun watching him play, especially when he gets excited and turns in circles! He's a fun guy to have around and will bring a lot of laughter to his Forever Home!

Besides being sweet & playful, Max is extremely smart and knows quite a few commands & tricks! He listens well & pays attention when spoken to and usually only needs to be told something once or twice before he catches on. He even listens to commands from his Foster Family's toddler and sits when told to, which the child thinks is the best thing ever! He knows the commands Sit, Paw, Lay Down, Stay, Roll Over, Easy and knows how to Shake. His former Family trained him pretty well & said he's very easy to train! He knows not to get on the counters to check for scraps or to get on the furniture, he doesn't dig and he's very well-behaved! He won't eat food from the table but if you give him an ice cube, he's one happy pup! He enjoys going for walks and needs to work on pulling, and will run if the front door is left open so that will need to be watched & worked on. He can chew through leashes quickly so we suggest using a chain leash to keep him safe & secured while outside. He loves walking to the store with his Foster Mom, and is a good boy walking around the main road and when people are around. He enjoys going for car rides and is a great passenger, sitting calmly in the car or in the laps of the kids in the back seat. Max is also afraid of loud noises so he wouldn't be the kind of dog to take to 4th of July celebrations.

Max is a wonderful dog who can't wait to find his Forever Home so he can snuggle with his new Family, play Fetch with them and be loved for the rest of his life!
