My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Soot and I am 11 weeks old. I am a short-haired black male. I've had a very hard life so far. I was born to a first time feral mom who tried her best to take care of the 5 of us but it was a very busy neighborhood and it was very hard to find food and the nights were so cold. Mommy had to move us so many times as people were doing construction, road work, and the neighbors very big dogs kept chasing us. The dogs killed 2 of our siblings and another just disappeared so my sister Cinders and I are all that is left of our family. Mommy kept telling us not to be afraid, that she would protect us, but she had to find food too so it was scary whenever she left us.
One day Mommy hid us in a big pile of sticks and went to look for food, while she was gone, someone set the pile on fire (they didn’t know we were there) and we almost died too. A very nice lady rescued us and got us to our foster home. We had to say goodbye to Mommy because she just did not want to be tamed. We miss her very much but at least she has a person who will feed her and she won’t have any more babies.
It is nice to have a warm, soft place to sleep, food to eat, and lots of toys to play with. My foster mom is great but I'd love a home of my own. My sister Cinders got adopted last week and now it is only me. I am very loving and friendly, I'll jump into any lap and purr all the time. I love string toys, especially our little mouse and the little bug we chase. We also love to chase the red laser dot.
My sister Cinders didn’t want to trust people ever again after all the bad things they did to us but I convinced her that not all people are bad and that a lot of people are like our foster mom and will be happy to have us in their home and will love us a lot and take care of us forever. Cinders listened because she is now very happy in her new home but I'm lonely and need a family to call my own. I promise to be a good kitty and to love my new family with all my heart. If you’d like to meet me and talk about giving me a forever home, I'd love to hear from you.
I have been neutered and had my first distemper shot. My mother tested negative for Felv/FIV, and I have been wormed and treated for fleas. In about 3-4 weeks I'll need my rabies shot and my 2nd distemper shot.
