My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Fred and I was dumped a long way from home. I am a brown tabby kitten (although some people think its grey) with a fair amount of white, and my fur is soft and short. I’m very slender and a little lanky, with a long skinny tail and big green eyes. I’m also not very loud when I meow, and it’s not high pitched like most kittens. Other times I will only warble when I talk to you.

I am really shy when I first get to a new home, and will try to find any place I can to hide, even if it’s in a litter box. I won’t try to bite or scratch if you reach out to pet me, and once you do, I will begin to purr. You can even pick me up and hold me. When my Foster Mommy brought me home, I stayed in the bathroom for several hours, even when the door was open, until the house was really dark and quiet; then she was able to coax me out. It will take me a little bit of time to come out of my shell and feel like a normal kitty in a new place and I am still a little fearful of fast movements and somewhat loud noises; but I’m working on that. If I do get scared, I don’t usually go too far from whatever it is that scared me; usually just down a hall or towards another room.

I have been very good about using my litter box. The only thing that I initially had problems with was using a scratching post, instead of the carpet on the floor. My FM has been working with me, and it seems I prefer the skinny sisal posts of the giant kitty tree she has, instead of the carpeted kitty condo to do my scratching.

My FM says that I’m very smart, since I learned how to get treats out of the Booda Double Treat Ball within 24 hours. Although sometimes I keep rolling it around when it’s empty, hoping somehow that something else will fall out of it that I can eat.

One thing my FM has that is really neat is this giant drinking fountain called a Drinkwell 360. I can just walk right up to it and start drinking from one of the spouts that water spills out of. Occasionally I will sniff some water up my nose and start coughing a little bit, but everything seems to work out ok.

When it comes to toys, I really like feather teasers and those wand toys with the string and different attachments. It doesn’t matter if they have feathers, tassels, or whatever, and it also doesn’t matter whether or not it has a bell. I really love running after them and sometimes flying through the air. I’m also getting pretty good at catching the one with the suede tassels in mid-air. With the feather teaser, my FM lets me bounce around on the couch chasing after it. But just be careful, because I’m kind of like a pin ball bouncing back and forth from the seat to the back and in all different directions.

I also like to play with different kinds of balls too. One of my favorites is a sparkle ball that I can pick up and carry to a different spot and then bat around. I’ll play with other toys too, including crinkle balls, and small stuffed things that I can pick up in my mouth. The red dot is ok, but I usually just watch it, instead of chasing after it.

One thing I really like to do is snuggle and get all kinds of pets. I especially love having my whole chest all the way down to my belly stroked. Other times, I just like it when my FM holds me and gives me all kinds of love. A lot of times, I’ll fall asleep on her lap, or even in her arms. I also enjoy sitting up in the kitty tree on one of the high perches, so I can look down and see what’s going on – unless I’m all tuckered out and I’ve fallen asleep. I’m still trying to figure out where I want to sleep when my FM goes to bed at night. Sometimes I will lie down next to her for a little while, but I don’t always stay there. When she wakes up in the morning, she usually finds me in the bedroom on this nice comfy sheepskin mat she has.

Won’t you consider adopting me and giving me a furever home where I can snuggle with you and give you lots of love?
