As a rescue it pains us to know that a dog was dumped at a shelter by its owner and our hearts ache even harder when we learn that there was not just one but there were a few dogs that were left at the shelter and they were bonded. The only comfort was that those girls had each other. It's devastating that dogs like these two 10 year old girls Zoe and Princess were not only dropped off at the shelter with their cocker sister, but were separated from the cocker when she was quickly rescued. And just like that the years they spent together were over in a short period of time too. Zoe and Princess were left with no hope of rescue or adoption and at risk of euthanasia.
We can't help but think about how they might have been brought into a family as young pets and then quickly turned into neglected backyard dogs, which in Zoe and Princess's case, was evidenced by the infestation of fleas deep into their skin, pneumonia, ball size tumor on Zoe, and much more. We think about the very real possibility that they spent their puppyhood alone, mistreated, and neglected and their innocence could never understand why their cries could go on ignored for hours, days, and years.
A dogs love is pure, unconditional, and as infinite as their loyalty is to their human so to leave these innocent girls to die at the shelter both at the age of 10 years old is beyond Inhumane.
We are grateful to have rescued them and will do everything we can to ensure their bright and hopeful future and to ensure that they never feel as frightened and alone as they did the day we rescued them. Please help us help them on their fresh new start to the rest of their lives.
