Lulu's Story...
Lulu is new to BHRA , but according to her foster mom you couldn't ask for a more close to perfect dog. Below is her exact words.

"I have had bassets for about 15 years I guess now and have gotta say she is a jewel!! Won't say she is perfect, but she is durn close! Very social, very good with the other dogs. I have 2 that are stingy with their mama and sometimes will growl at her and she is so smart she just walks off-which I love!-instead of starting a fight! She loves to cuddle, decided Friday night that she would sleep in my bed-which is usually the schnauzer's place, but he was upstairs so she was smart enough to take advantage and go for the best spot in the house! She didn't eat real good the first few days, but is doing good at that now...great on a leash...loves to bark!! might be a problem for somebody but not us, we live in the country and she can bark all she wants like she does when she is outside. That hasn't been a problem inside at all! Her former owners really took good care of her, as is obvious with her good health and all, just don't know how in the world they could give her up...she really is wonderful and if I didn't have a full house, I would adopt her in a second!"

Lulu is 5-6 years old. If this sounds like the "perfect" baby for you, please go to and complete an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lulu, a Northport Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Northport, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Northport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Northport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Northport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Northport paves the way for another one to be saved.
