#22 Nigel's Story...
Nigel is about 4-5 months old – probably born in July or August 2014. He is a really happy dog, full of zest for life. He’s affectionate, playful, responsive, and very intelligent as well as a pleaser who wants to be loved and be part of everything. He is good with cats although he needs to be reminded that they are not other dogs and he shouldn’t play chase with them, but he shows no prey drive with cats specifically (he has plenty of that in regards to birds and bunnies though). So far he’s learned to “sit” and “come” as well as “shake” and “high five.” He is doing very well walking on leash. He rides okay in the car but needs to get accustomed fully to that. He is decently mannered around other dogs, showing no aggression. He shows no sign of food aggression and eats well but doesn’t overeat or get all picky. He is also learning to chase a ball or Frisbee and generally loves to play with people and dogs. He’s almost house-trained—accidents are few and far between, but he needs a clear routine and is still confined at night or if we go out. He is not going to be a big dog – probably no more than 30-40 pounds. He loves to cuddle, and doesn’t even seem to shed much so he’s a nice lap companion on a cold night. He would be a very loving, loyal companion for a family with kids 5 and up, a couple without kids, or a solo, active adult. Since he is a sweet-natured dog and a very fast learner, he would likely be fine with smaller children but he just hasn’t been introduced to them yet. All in all, a cool little guy with lots of love and fun to offer who would benefit most from a balance of strong basic routine with varied happenings in his life. Truly a little gem.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

#22 Nigel, a Allen Border Collie puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Allen, or seeking a Border Collie puppy from a breeder in Allen.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Allen already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Allen breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Allen paves the way for another one to be saved.
