My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GABBY is a Puggle, which is a cross between a Beagle and a Pug. She is 1 to 2 years old & weighs about 15 lbs., and is a real cuddler! When Gabby came to Rover Rescue in early September, she brought a surprise for us: A belly full of puppies! Gabby's SEVEN beautiful puppies were born a month later, on September 25th: 4 girls and 3 boys! Her "Thanksgiving Puppies" will be available for adoption late November/early December. Gabby will also be ready for adoption in late November, after her spay surgery. Gabby and her puppies love each other so much. In watching them interact and play together, I wish for a blessing that Gabby's forever home could include one of her pups too.

Gabby was turned into a shelter down in Southern Indiana in August, possibly because she was "expecting" and her owners did not want to deal with it. However, I don't think the shelter knew she was pregnant. When she came up to Rover Rescue, I suspected Gabby was not "alone"... and sure enough she wasn't! Poor Gabby, a youngster herself, looked very under-fed as her ribs were showing, yet she was carrying around this huge growing belly! This really tired her out, and she would grunt when moving around. The additional weight she was carrying was half of her own body weight! A few days before she "popped", an x-ray of her belly showed 6 puppies, so one of them was "hiding"! Gabby's timing was perfect (not!) - the first pup was born at 3:00 A.M. and she finished up at 6:00 A.M.!

The Puggle dates back to 1980 when dog breeders experimented in creating new dog crosses. The Puggle is now the most popular cross-breed in America! U.S. families love them because of their wonderful personalities and appearance (love that wrinkly snout and forehead!). They are sweet-tempered and playful, energetic, intelligent and affectionate. Here is a great website I found with some good info on the Puggle: http://www.puggle.org/puggle-breed-info

Gabby knows sit, and can catch treats and toys like a baseball outfielder! She is a great traveler in the car, and is the perfect size to take with you wherever you go - she is very sociable! She loves to play fetch, and if you throw a ball in the backyard, Gabby races, then slides on the grass to fetch it! She is friendly with other dogs and cats too, and loves to run and play with her doggie friends here in the fenced back yard ... exercise is a must for a Puggle. There are no children here, but I am sure Gabby is good with them, but they should always be gentle with her, as with any dog.

Gabby is housebroken, crate-trained, up-to-date with her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative, and she will be spayed before adoption. Gabby's adoption fee is $200, which includes free micro-chipping and registration.
