KAYCEE - ADOPTION PENDING's Story...
You may submit an adoption application for Kaycee at http://www.abgra.org/. Inquiries may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Pretty little Kaycee is a purebred Brussels Griffon and everyone who meets her remarks how very sweet and well behaved she is. She does have a touch of mischief and loves to play “catch-me” with her people. She will dodge back and forth, wagging her tail as fast as she can to entice you to play with her.
Kaycee is affectionate and LOVES to have her belly rubbed, but she is not too needy, like some Griffs are. She loves to gaze outside from her foster home’s screened in porch or from the sofa by the front window. She will occasionally ask to go outside to potty but it's very subtle so you need to be aware of her signals. She LOVES being outside but won’t go out when the grass is wet – she is a girly-girl and prefers keeping her feet dry!
Kaycee is motherly toward the other dogs and tries to clean their ears every chance she gets. The mothering stops at meal times and she prefers to eat alone where another small dog won’t be able to sneak a bite of her food. She does not enjoy playing with other dogs but appreciates their company. She will bark at strange noises and especially if another dog is barking, so apartment/condo life is not recommended.
She would be happiest with someone that works from home, can take her to work with them or is retired. When you need to run errands, she is OK home alone for a few hours, but she does best with another small dog to keep her company. She would like a securely fenced yard to explore, a walk every day and just to hang out with you as much as possible. Kaycee must always be securely harnessed and leashed outside a fenced area and crated or seat belted in the back seat when in a vehicle. Because of her small size, she will not be placed in a home with children under 10 years old or with large dogs. She seems to like younger dog savvy children, but prefers that they live elsewhere and just visit her home occasionally.
Kaycee’s birthday is March 29, 2011, so she is still quite young in Griffy years and her ideal weight is just 10 lbs. She was overweight when first rescued and still needs to lose another pound or so. She is healthy, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, micro chipped, heart worm negative and taking preventative. She is currently being fostered near Chicago IL and we prefer to place her within a few hours driving distance. If someone outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must fly in and Kaycee must fly home inside the cabin with the approved adopter. Our dogs may never be shipped in cargo and we do not transport them to adoptive homes. They are never placed in homes with invisible (electric) fencing. Doggy doors are OK as long as they are secured at night and when you are gone. Kaycee is small enough to be carried away by a coyote or other predator so should never be outside alone.
