My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Prancer Dancer is a healthy spayed female and probably a boxer mixed with some pit-bull. She was rescued by me as a private citizen when she was approx. 6 months old from a park where she had been tied to a picnic table & abandoned and left in the hot summer sun with no food or water.

Prancer was very shy and untrusting. She is still shy but she warms up if she is allowed to become familiar on her terms rather items being forced on her. She is not crate trained. But she is potty trained to a doggie door. She is on no medications and the only surgeries she has had is her spaying. She does have a microchip and has had her first round of shots. She has never bitten or tried to bite a person although she has snapped &/or tried "tried to get at" our smaller dogs.

Prancer loves being outside and she loves to run - this is her favorite form of exercise. She tends to be a active energetic young adult dog. (She is approx. 14-15 months old now). We have a 6ft block fence and she does not try to escape nor does she bolt for the door. She knows how to sit, mostly how to stay & down, & no. We are still working on leash training. She is selective about coming to her name although she knows her name. She just is unsure of why you are calling her. She will shyly come to you if you just go on and wait for her to come. She does bark but no howling. When she starts, I just bring her inside. She is not a brave soul...anything new or different, she will disappear and slowly sneak up on it in a unobtrusive manner.

Prancer has been eating Pedigree and she chooses to eat outside. I keep her water inside so I am able to periodically check and make sure she doesnt get overheated. She is not food-aggressive nor is she toy-aggressive. (She takes all her toys outside). She loves stuffed toys & squeaky toys as well as chew bones.

She has been living with 3 eight year old smaller dogs. Their energy level is decreasing but Prancer is still very active. Thus the need to re-home her. Although we love her we recognize her need to be active. (Both my husband and i are elderly and disabled).

My favorite thing is when she gets tired, she will start rubbing her eyes like a child & wants to cuddle. Her most favorite thing is to have her belly lightly stroked - she goes right to sleep.
