My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER TO ADOPT REQUIRED ~ Email CAARescue@gmail.com

I sat at the pound with an injured leg for two weeks after being clipped by a car when I was a stray, no one came to claim me and shockingly none of the CAA volunteers were surprised! On the last day before I was scheduled to be euthanized a really nice lady came to get me and keep me safe for a day at her place until I could be named Ranger and placed into foster care with a CAA Rescue family.

At roughly 3 years of age it seems as though I have already lived a life time’s worth of neglect! I currently am completely mobile but only on three legs, my back left hind leg is not mobile. Everyone was sure it was broken but first round of xrays revelled that I only had arthritis in one joint and a pellet/bullet lodged in my right thigh… like I said already lived a life time’s worth of neglect! When I go for my neuter and micro chip CAA will remove the pellet that is lodged in my leg, it has been there for some time and makes it really uncomfortable for me to lie down on that side

I am a huge cuddle bum teddy bear! I am definitely a Rottweiler mix … mixed with what no one truly knows as I am longer than the average rottie and my fur is black mixed with a rusty red highlights. Makes me very unique looking. I do have my tail and there is an injury on it but it does not seem to bother me – no one is really sure what happened there as it is a perfect circle of hair loss ring around the base of my tail…. Did I mention I already lived a life time’s worth of neglect?

CAA Rescue has scheduled an appointment for an orthopedic evaluation so that we can figure out what is happening with my left leg. I do have anti inflammatory medication to take along with several joint repair vitamins. I am a perfect sweetheart when taking them and just gobble up all my pills! I guess I like to eat a lot now probably because I never really had a good and stable diet.

I am friendly with everyone I meet and good with all. I am clean in the home and have shown no signs of destructive behavior. The only issue is my current foster family has one little fearless kitten who wants to play and jump around on my head like a june bug and that makes life a little harder for me since I do not feel so hot these days. I struggle with finding a comfortable position to sleep in and really it feel like forever since I slept because I pretty much wake up every 30 minutes or so to shift to a new position.

On top of everything else I tested positive for heartworm and will have to undergo treatments. I do have to get a little stronger before we can start that though because I am on the skinny side.

CAA Rescue is reaching out to a quiet foster to adopt home out there for me. What that means is: I need a good, peaceful and loving home to care for me and make the required vet appointments at Animal 911 in Roxboro. CAA Rescue will cover the costs of my treatment and then once I am all good and healthy in a few months you can choose to adopt me or CAA will look for my forever family.

I am a big boy with reduced mobility but still can get around for my walks just fine
I am a happy guy and only want to cuddle with humans.
I am cat friendly just not “terror kitten jumping on my head” friendly
I have been friendly with every dog I have met

If you are reading my story and love me but cannot foster me but want to help me then please consider donating via paypal or email transfer to info@caarescue.com to help CAA Rescue cover the costs of my medical as it will be a few thousand dollars to get me whole and healthy again but they are a determined bunch of volunteers and they will find a way to make this happen for me so that I only live happy ever after.

If you are reading my story and would love to offer me the home I have never, ever had then please email caarescue@gmail.com, they will ask you to complete an application so that they can get to know you better to ensure we are a good match. Then you can come over and meet me and we can see if you fall in love with me on sight like everyone else who has met me has!
