Luna is a majestic, 1,5-year-old, Alaskan Malamute, who has beautiful, soft, brown eyes. As opposed to many of our adoptees who have not been treated kindly or felt what it is like to be loved by a human, Luna had a family who cared for her. However, they could not meet the financial responsibilities of having a dog and asked us to find her a good home. Luna weighs 112 lbs. – a gentle giant. She may be carrying an extra pound or two but nothing that walks and play time can’t fix. Since she is very large and powerful, we recommend obedience training so that daily walks are enjoyable. When she has been exercised, she is calm, composed, and quite mellow. Luna especially loves the winter when she can roll and play in the snow. She gets along with other dogs of any size. Luna is NOT an outdoor dog; like all dogs, she loves going for walks and being outside with her human, but she also belongs inside with her family. If dog hair bothers you, then Luna is not for you. She will need brushing from time to time and she is a heavy shedder with a thick undercoat; Malamutes should NEVER be shaved! Ideally a home experienced with this breed or other giant breed would best suit Luna. If you would like to give this magnificent dog her second chance at a great life, please fill in the Adoption Form.
