Misty and her five littermates were part of an unwanted litter who were found in a box abandoned in a park. Mom was nowhere to be found. This adorable and playful puppy just oozes cuteness. As we are fast approaching the holiday season, Animatch is expecting the usual requests from parents looking for a puppy for Christmas because little Johnny’s or little Mary‘s only wish is a puppy. Puppies that are given as presents seldom remain in their first home. The commitment to the dog must last the lifetime of the dog, not just on Christmas day. Putting a red bow on Misty’s neck and giving her to a child for Christmas may be thrilling – a real Hallmark moment! However, being a responsible guardian to a dog is about much more than giving in to a child’s wishes at Christmas or at any time. Parents who do this are sending the wrong message. Animals are not toys and should never be given as gifts. Just like with their toys, children lose interest over time and parents discard as if the dog is a used toy. Misty deserves so much more. Puppies and dogs are an adult responsibility.

Misty will need a home where there is someone present during the day. Pups need constant supervision, lots of exercise and stimulation, frequent socialization, and last but not least toilet training. Misty will be ready to start puppy school very soon. Eventually, she should also enrol in basic obedience classes. No doubt what she will need most is patience, attention and lot of your time. In a few weeks, Misty will be ready and to begin her new adventure. If you meet the requirements for adopting a puppy and are ready to open your heart and your home to this sweet pup, please fill in the Adoption Form.
