Sassafras's Story...
Sassafras is a doxie mix and is a very sweet shy girl! This is her pic in the shelter and she is actually the one facing the corner! Her sister was the more outgoing one and was adopted leaving her shy sister with no one. She was not going to get adopted that way so we saved her from a hopeless fate! And we are glad we did! What a little love! She is shy but she comes out of her shell when she feels safe!!! She is very laid back and easy going and loves to sit in your lap! Sassafras is maybe a year old and she weighs 12#! She would do best in a home with older children. She gets along great with dogs that are her size (under 20#). She is crate trained and doing very good on potty training.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sassafras, a Newtown Dachshund puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Newtown, or seeking a Dachshund puppy from a breeder in Newtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Newtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Newtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Newtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
