My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We named her Miss Gypsy Rose. We call her Rose.
One of the pictures shown is her freedom ride home from the shelter 6/5/14 just hours away from being put down.
She was picked up in Dallas as a stray. She had no collar and no microchip. Her intake date at the Dallas Animal Services was on 5/18/2014. They put her age at 12 years old. BUT again we feel that was based on only the condition of her teeth. She does not appear to us to be 12 years old! She is older yes, maybe 8-10, but I don't think she is 12. I have owned several JRTs. My oldest crossed the rainbow bridge just two weeks away from 19 (I got her when she was a wee 6 week old baby). My others, which I adopted as older JRTs, lived into their late teens as well. So again, I say I really don't think Rose is 12. She is current on all her shots, she is heart worm negative. She weighs about 16-17 lbs.
Miss Rose may be getting a little gray frost on her face and a little thick around her waist. Her eyesight may be a tad blurry and her hearing is not as good as a pup. But she still has a spring in her step and is sweet, sweet, sweet!!! This little feisty girl is a love bug! She loves having her chest and neck scratched and will walk up and lean on any foot that might be sticking out while you are sitting down. That's her way of asking for a scratch! She doesn't get on the furniture, even though we have carpeted stairs to all the sofas, chairs and our bed. We have picked her up and put her in the chair with us, but she will stay for a little bit and then wants down to go to her bed. She loves a big fluffy dog bed with some blankets to burrow in. She has a dog bed next to our bed and when it time for bed she burrows in her bed and sleeps though the night. (She does snore a little... ;) )
There is a picture of her sharing a big bed with our adopted female Miss Harper.
She currently lives here on the farm with us, our two adopted JRTs from RRI (Miss Harper and Monty, our blind boy) and her foster sister Miss Sally. We also have a rescued cat, Ranger in the house. Miss Rose doesn't chase him. She followed him around the first week or so. More like trying to figure out what he was than wanting to chase and hurt him. We also have four horses which Miss Rose has only met through the fence. She does a fancy quick high stepping prance along the fence with her nose in the air trotting alongside them as they walk by.
There is a picture shown of our Jack Pack! From left to right are Miss Harper, Miss Rose, Monty and Miss Sally.
We have family and friends that stop by and visit and Miss Rose loves them all!! She especially loves the baby (one year old) and my other great nieces (10 and 14). She doesn't jump on them, but will climb in their laps if the sit down! She gives them lots of kisses! She will stand with her front legs on a human’s leg to get them to bend down and give her a pet. But, not more than a couple of times. She may try to jump once or twice at you if it is dinner time, but her big jump is a whopper at about three inches off the ground! Hahaha.
I don't think we have heard her bark but more than a couple times and that was at the horses. She will whine when she thinks you have forgotten what time it is and it is eating time! She does like to nap. But can be an early riser to go outside for her morning constitutional. I have to get up at 5 am to get ready for work so that is what she is used to at the moment. We had about a week there of 4 am when we had the time change and fell back an hour! She has free roam of the house at all times and only peed in the house twice. That was when we first brought her home from the kennel, and with the other three dogs and a cat in the house, and us not knowing how she "asks" to go out, I couldn't really blame her for either us not knowing or her being nervous and marking her spot. There have been a couple times when we have been gone away from the house for ten hours and we found some poop. But again with three other dogs not sure who it was. ;) (oh, when Rose does poop outside don't stand behind her!! My husband calls it her "jet blast" she will scratch the ground with her back feet and kick up quite the dirt and grass!
When she is eating, I do have to stand and watch her. If she finishes before the others she will go over and just try to help them finish. She is not aggressive in any way!!! Ever!!! But she will just move in to the others bowl, so I just tell her no or move her back. Oh yeah, and she sits up like a little chipmunk when she wants her dinner too!! She is sooo cute!!! I need to snap a pic of her when she does that!
There is a picture shown of all of the pack waiting for dinner... She LOVES to eat!! LOL
We had a complete dental done on her shortly after we got her. Poor thing had HORRIBLE TEETH!!!! She had several abscesses and couldn't eat. When they did her dental they had to pull 13 teeth!!! She was like a different dog when she got home and feeling better! She was so happy and energetic!! I don't feed a crunchy dry food. But if I did, I would just soak it a little with water and she would do fine. (Our other senior JRTs are all missing teeth too so I feed all soft meals and treats)
Also due to neglect she has cloudy eyes. (Probably started as corneal ulcers and wasn't treated so turned into a lifelong permanent issue) She doesn't see clearly, she is not completely blind, but she probably only sees blurry large objects. I do have eye drops for her and a gel for when they get dry. She doesn't love getting her eye drops but she doesn't put up a big fuss.
All in all, Miss Rose is a wonderful loving middle aged JRT that deserves a devoted family she can call her own. (We do love her and have considered adopting her ourselves but as "foster families" if we can find forever families for our fosters, so that they can have all the loving attention they deserve then we are able to save another life from neglect or death and help them find permanent loving families of their own).
Rose is the sweetest non-complicated Jack Russell we have ever fostered! If I had to pick something that is her "high maintenance issue" it would be she just loves to eat!! For example right now she is pacing a bit, whining a few times, trying to get my attention while I type to let me know we are getting close to dinner time! LOL! But of course so is my husband... He just came out of his home office and asked me "what are we having for dinner tonight?" So yeah, it’s basically the same thing as Rose. ;)
Please feel free to email me if you would like to discuss Miss Rose further. She is truly a wonderful little girl that has many loving years left and would give her heart to her own family completely. And being a middle aged girl her adoption fee is lower than the youngsters. ;)
Miss Rose is a spayed female, with up to date vet work. She is housebroken and she sleeps through the night. She loves naps and she enjoys scratches and kisses. She walks on a leash and she is a low to moderate energy, quiet, tri-colored Jack Russell who is passed all the "chew on everything-dig up your yard" stage with lots of loving years left to give! Thank you for your interest is saving a JRT!
