Winnie's Story...
Winnie is the smallest of her littermates and is very mild-mannered. Like all kittens, she loves playing, but she also enjoys snuggling up next to you on the couch and at your feet at night. She also like to climb up high on the cat tree and nap. She is a bit timid as she was born outside, but she is becoming more and more comfortable with humans. In the last week she has started staring up at her foster mom as she works on her computer and she is intrigued by the mouse darting around on the screen. She gets along very well with all the other cats and kittens in her foster home and would be very happy in a multi-cat family as well as an only cat.
Are you interested in adopting Winnie or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received.

Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center) or at Petsmart in Smithfield.

We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application for Winnie.

Thanks for thinking adoption!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Winnie, a Smithfield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Smithfield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Smithfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smithfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smithfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smithfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
