Here's what the humans have to say about me:
River was first noticed living the Los Angeles riverbed during the summer of 2013. She was extremely emaciated, had a collar that was becoming embedded in her neck and struggling to survive. A Noahs Bark volunteer became aware of her in December of 2013 and spent 6 months trying to gain her trust. She was finally rescued in July 2014. She is a young dog (approximately 2 years old) and has most likely spent the majority of her life fending for herself in the riverbed. River is a very sweet girl who doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body; however, because of her negative experiences living on the streets, she is scared of new people and everyday noises. After being rescued, River spent 3 months with a great trainer and is gradually learning that not all people are bad. River is now living with the Noahs Bark volunteer who discovered her last year and continues to make progress towards becoming a well-adjusted dog. She gets along with all her foster siblings (2 small dogs, 2 cats and a tortoise), walks great on a leash, has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her vaccinations. If any one deserves a second chance, this girl does! With some time and patience, River will make a great companion. Our adoptions are restricted to residents of Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
