My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the tri-pawed acrobatic kitties!

These lovely girls were part of a litter born in the equipment yard at NAB. Two enlisted men saw their mother hit and killed by a car and they brought the kittens to the ACF back in June.

We discovered that Ruby and Opal each had a half limb on one leg. The vet determined that both kittens had suffered post birth trauma leading to the loss of a part of their leg and that the best thing would be to amputate each half limb. Ruby had one of her front legs removed and Opal one of her back legs. But that doesn’t slow them down one bit!

As you can see from this video, they recovered quickly and thoroughly and are totally unaware that they are a bit different. The trauma they suffered and the loss of a limb has not affected their overall health and they are just fine.

Ruby is a medium furred girl with a friendly and delicate personality. Opal has short fur and is a bit more reserved when you first meet her, but warms up easily. Both love pets and respond with a steady rumble of a purr.

And playtime is all action with these two girls. They live up to their label of “acrobatic kittens” playing just like any other kittens.

Do you have room in your heart and home for this extra special pair of kittens? Come meet them in person to see just how sweet and extraordinary they are!

You can meet Opal and Ruby at the Coronado Animal Care Facility any day between 9:00am and 4:00pm (except holidays). The Coronado Animal Care Facility is located at 1395 First Street at the south end of the Ferry Landing complex.

If you are interested in adopting Opal and Ruby, you must first complete a Cat Adoption Application and meet with a PAWS of Coronado Cat Adoption Counselor. Cat adoption applications are available at the facility or Cat Adoption Applications may be completed online.
