My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miracle – 2 year old female Miniature Schnauzer/ShihTzu. Miracle was adopted around Christmas and sadly was returned in late April... she nipped at the toddler grandson (who visited occasionally). So we are once again looking to find Miracle her FOREVER home. Miracle will need a home without small children (over 9 ok). Although she is not kid friendly, she is cat friendly :) Her original story is below.

Miracle was rescued from an LA county shelter where she came in as a stray. Being cute as a button she had a lot of people interested in her. When we noticed that she had not gotten adopted, we inquired called the shelter to find out why. Turns out they found she had some major medical with breathing, an xray was taken and they determined she had a "diaphragmatic hernia" which would require surgery to fix. In laymen's terms... she had tear in her diaphragm and the small intestine had moved into the chest cavity, her heart had moved over into a tiny space. She was having problems with breathing and eating as a result.

Well we rescued her and our vet referred us to a specialist, Dr. Edward Leeds of Surgical Group for Animals in Torrance CA. Dr. Leeds attributed the hernia due to trauma most likely she had been hit by a car. He told us he could do the surgery but it was very risky and we could lose her, however if she survived it she would live a normal life without any further complications. He also said without the surgery she would mostly likely die from either her stomach twisting or eventual liver damage. We did blood work and he determined there so far had been no liver damage and she was a candidate for surgery. So we opted to take our chances with surgery. The surgery turned out to be further complicated because little Miracle turned out to be pregnant. So she was additionally spayed (she nor the puppies would have survived the pregnancy).

Surgery was done on and she's perfectly healthy! She's been through a lot and is sweet as can be, gets along well with other dogs. Lets get her a FOREVER home. Little Miracle is only 9.5 pounds.
