Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Empress is a lovely Japanese Chin who is 8 years of age and weighs 8 pounds. Her owners surrendered her to a shelter along with another small dog, but left the lobby before providing any information about her.
When Dusty Paws first met her, Empress looked pretty scruffy with hair loss from her waist down from a flea allergy. But all it took for her hair to grow back was application of flea meds. As a senior, Empress has a few other health issues that are being addressed. She has had dental surgeries to remove problem teeth (she still has 14 left, plenty to allow her to eat her kibble). She is currently on a heart medication called enalprill for an enlarged heart and she requires ointment for dry eye. Also, she may be a little hard of hearing. We want her to go to a very special permanent home where she will continue to receive TLC.
Through all her treatments as well as a case of kennel cough, Empress has been a little trooper. Her foster mom reports that she is an easy dog to care for. She is house-trained using a doggie door, quiet, and doesn't bark. She gets along with her foster mates. The foster mom has seen glimpses of a playful girl but, living up to her name, Empress mostly likes to observe her kingdom. She enjoys going for short walks and lying out in the sun.
