My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joe was found as a stray and taken to a rural Ohio dog pound with an embedded collar, which was removed and cleaned under anesthesia and closed with sutures and staples. He spent more than a month recovering from this procedure at a kennel in Columbus before coming to Dogworks in December 2014. He is a big, handsome dog! Possibly a boxer/shepherd/hound/other mix? Joe weighs 80-90 lbs. and is 2-3 years old. Joe is leery of strangers in public situations (including our Meet & Greets) but LOVES meeting people one-on-one. He is very intelligent and eager to please! His foster home includes other adult dogs as well as puppies. He loves to play with the other big dogs but will sometimes growl at them over food or treats; no food aggression towards people. He has also had exposure to an infant in his foster home. Joe likes to smell his human foster brother and check out what he is doing, but leaves him alone for the most part. Foster family reports no accidents in the house. Joe is crated at night and while his family is out, and he tolerates the crate well without whining or crying. Joe stays off the furniture unless he is invited. He is learning how to sit and lay down. Joe will require a fenced yard and an adopter prepared to teach him some manners and keep him in line. Joe is okay on the leash. He does pull slightly while on a leash but he would be easily trained. He does not bark at other dogs. He rarely barks at all. He is neutered and up-to-date on veterinary care. Adoption fee is $165.
