My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shane is a very handsome boy and definitely still has a lot of puppy in him. He is shy at first with strangers but once he knows you he is your best friend. He is approximately 10 months to a year old and is a curious boy but still getting used to all the sights and sounds of the city. He will need a family that is willing to spend time with him, playing and loving him and helping him to become a capable, respected companion. Shane currently weighs approximately 40 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

When Shane first arrived he was very happy to be out of the shelter but was still overwhelmed with all of the changes happening in his life. Strange noises, strange people and the new environment made him scared but once he got to know us he was just the sweetest dog ever. Shane is friendly with everyone he knows including children but if a stranger approaches him with something in their hand or there is a loud noise, he will still cower and back off. With some dogs he can be a little too much as he a big puppy at heart but overall he is good with most dogs.

Shane is very well behaved in the home for his age and although he is very active outside the home, he is calm and quiet inside the home. He loves to get out and go for walks and loves playing fetch. In the home he loves to cuddle and get lots of pets and just be wherever his family is.

Shane is fully house trained and he is crate trained but is not fond of the crate. He is only crated at night to sleep and when we are away from the home for long hours. He is fairly well behaved in the home but will need someone to continue with his training. He does know his basic obedience such as "sit", "paw", "down", "off", "drop it" and we are working on teaching him to fetch. He loves playing tug-o-war and going for walks. He still pulls a little on leash but is coming along nicely. Someone has also taught him to jump into your arms on command.

Shane would do well with a family that was able to make the commitment to continue his training and socialization so he can be a confident, capable companion. He would do well with an experienced owner that was willing to be patient and use lots of positive reinforcement as Shane really bonds to his people and needs to know that he can trust them in all situations. Most of all however, Shane deserves a family that is really going to love him and make him a respected member of the family. He is a very sweet pup and deserves to be an important part of the family unit.

If you would like to give Shane the family he deserves, please submit an application for consideration.
