My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a pair of male chinchillas looking for a new home. Their names are Bear and Moose. Bear and Moose are brothers that are 1.5 years old. Bear is the standard grey, and Moose is the beige. These boys came into the rescue with 3 other chinchillas, when their family moved out of country.

Bear and Moose are sweet chinchillas, though you can definitely tell them apart. Bear is the more outgoing of the two, while Moose is a little less unsure, and is more likely to retreat to his hidey house if you scare him. Both can be bribed with treats, though, which can work wonders at getting them used to you.

These two chinchillas do fine with being held and petted. They would be good chinchillas for someone who has never had any before. They do not bite.

These two chinchillas are housed together and can only be adopted out as a pair.

As with all of our chinchillas/rescues, Bear and Moose will come with 4 pounds of food to start you out (Mazuri pellets), two baggies of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. They will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell our popular Starter Package ($25) which includes 5 pounds of food, 2 pounds of dust, 24 oz of hay, a baggie of chews/treats, and a hanging toy. We also offer a variety of other supplies for sale, including cages (new and used), chew toys, and hidey houses.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Bear & Moose are located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46321).

The adoption fee for this pair of chinchillas is $175
