My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HERSHEY is a 5 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 69 pounds. Hershey is a quiet boy and gets startled with fast moves, so you need to go slowly with him. He walks well on the leash and is friendly with other dogs and people. He has the saddest expression and is adjusting to not being tied to a chain. He's coming around well with the attention from the kennel staff. Hershey is one of four chained dogs that came to Lab Rescue when previous owner "couldn't take care of them anymore." His buddies are Mellow Cup, Sunshine, and Sugar Baby. They were all used as backyard breeders. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (12/19): Hershey was so happy to see foster mom get home from work that he actually smiled for her. He wants to jump on her lap all the time. This sweetheart is really enjoying living indoors and going for long walks.

Update (12/19): What a sweet guy! He was a little nervous but settled down nicely. Does fine with the resident dogs, started to mark a couple of times but a correction stopped him and that was it. He slept on the bathmat in the bathroom last night. He loves to walk! He's in the crate with a stuffed kong while his foster is at work but after some acclimation he will likely be fine without the crate. He is a bit of a picky eater - adding some canned dog food did the trick.

Update (12/17): Hershey is a complete teddy bear. He has so much to give and is generous with his kisses. He takes treats gently and loves the human attention. His coat is coarse and bleached from living outside, but that will change in no time now that he's indoors and on a good diet. He walks nicely on the leash. This little bear is on his way to blossoming. He'll be smiling in no time.
