My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DAISY is an 6 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 67. Daisy is very sweet and loves to be with you to get attention. She will come up and sit by you and if you pet her she will kind of fold over and end up laying on her back to get her belly rubbed. See her story for a very good description of the great dog you will get if you adopt her. She is good with other dogs and lived with Duke and with 3 dogs at fosters. Lived with 5 cats at fosters. Knows some commands. She doesn't like or need a crate. Daisy's story - Daisy & Duke were in a large airline carrier and left at the rest stop Camden County with a note attached to the carrier. Note said dogs were Duke and Daisy they were both 6 years old, it also said stated that their owner was dying of breast cancer and could no longer care for them. When the Animal Control Officer opened the carrier, Daisy took off and ran into the woods. He was able to get Duke who was taken to the shelter, he was adopted to a local family with his hold time was up. A couple of days later Daisy wandered up to a home near the rest stop and owner took her in and notified Animal Control and offered to foster her until she was adopted. The rescue coordinator contacted us to see if we could take her and we said yes.
The good Samaritan who fostered her until we could take her passed on the following information: Daisy been an easy foster, and I am really going to miss her. Can’t say enough good things about her, she has fit into our home like she’s always been here and is good with everything, except a crate She won’t get in a crate but doesn’t need it though, and we’ve been able to leave her with no trouble. She doesn’t really like getting in the car, either, but she rides fine once convinced to get in. I have 5 house cats and 3 large, exuberant neutered male dogs, plus horses, a goat, ducks, geese, guineas, a turkey, and chickens. She is very mellow and seems to get along with everyone, including leaving the birds alone when they are loose in the yard (although she grumbles at the cats when they try to initiate play). She doesn’t even bark, except when you are about to throw a tennis ball. She is approved for kids 10+.

Update (12/22): Daisy is so loveable, she is definitely not a high maintenance dog. All she requires is a little love and a few rubs behind the ears. She loves to be in the same room with you but does not need your undivided attention. Every once in a while she will come up to you and place her paw on your knee just to remind you that she is there and would like a little pat. She is very mannerly. She doesn't beg or counter surf. She gets along well with the resident lab. She is house trained and doesn't need to be crated. She is just waiting for a forever home where she can spend the holidays and all the days thereafter.
