Desiree just got out of a very bad situation. Do you see how happy she is? This cat did not deserve the fate that seemed inescapable. She was clearly a lost little soul, looking in garbage cans for food. Worse yet, she would run up to people crying, actually begging for help and attention. She was seen following people up and down the block. Fortunately, a kind local woman, home because of physical disabilities, noticed this cat and called some rescuers for help. When the women went to look for her they walked up and down the block, shaking a little food, hoping she would hear it. Sure enough, this very smart cat came running up to them, and within minutes she not only had food in her fuzzy belly but a warm place to sleep and people that treasure her. Unfortunately, it seems that Desiree and a few of her roommates were put out onto the street. So far we have been able to bring two of them to safety, and are working on getting the others. Can you imagine this cat on her own? She is incredibly sweet, easy-going and good-natured. Her temperament is perfect. She loves attention, and moves to get closer to you with every stroke of your hand running through her fur. This one is a keeper.
