Chance's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Chance's Story...
Chance is a 9 month old pit bull mix who was found in October wandering the streets of Waco with horrific demodex (non contagious) mange and severe skin infections that caused big patches of hair to fall out and made his skin red and raw. Now two months later, most of Chance's fur has filled back in (still recovering) and he is ready for his "second chance" in life! Chance is an EXCELLENT dog and representation of his breed. He is very dog social, adores people and children, and is very eager to please which has made him loads of fun to train. He knows "sit," will come when called, and will go into his kennel politely when asked. For more information on adopting Chance, please email stephanie@mylongwayhome.org

We ask for a minimum donation of $200 to adopt. This donation allows us to provide care to our sanctuary animals whom otherwise would be euthanized. Our Sanctuary maintains a caring, nurturing home life for pets deemed "unadoptable" or who have been diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness. We create a safe, structured environment for the remainder of their lives, because every companion animal deserves a final chance to give and receive love.
With your donation, your future rescue dog will be:
1. Spayed or neutered.
2. Microchipped.
3. Current on rabies, bordetella, distemper and parvo vaccines.
4. Heartworm tested and current on monthly heartworm prevention. If they tested heartworm positive, they will be current on treatment.
5. Flea free and on monthly flea prevention.
6. Dewormed.
7. Provided with a lifetime guaranteed collar and leash from Lupinepet.com.

All of our rescue pets live in foster homes. Foster parents find out what the animals like or dislike, what type of family structure would serve them best, and which home environment would allow them to flourish. Because we have this information, Long Way Home does not use a "first come, first served" approach. We evaluate all approved applications based on what would be the perfect home for each particular animal based on their own unique personalities and needs. We are pleased you have chosen to adopt your next companion animal and honored that you have selected a Long Way Home rescue to become part of your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chance, a College Station Pit Bull Terrier/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in College Station, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in College Station.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in College Station already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a College Station breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in College Station paves the way for another one to be saved.
