Facts about Gilda

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tortoiseshell
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
I was named Gilda after the actress/comedian, Gilda Radnor, because I am a bit of a clown. I do like mischief and I definitely make the volunteers at Beacon laugh. What's not so funny is how long I've been waiting to find a home-almost 7 years! I am not willing to share the spotlight with other cats and my sense of humor doesn't work too well with younger children, but if you appreciate a cat with a quirky personality, I will keep you very entertained.

About Beacon Animal Rescue

About Our Shelter...

Beacon Animal Rescue is an all volunteer organization dependent on donations. There are no administrative costs in the organization. We feel that since all of our volunteers have a desire to be helping animals, they are special people who show special care for each and every one of our animals. Every animal that enters Beacon becomes part of the Beacon family and earns a special place in the hearts of our volunteers.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Public Hours: Tuesday thru Friday - 2:00 to 5:00
Saturday & Sunday - 12:00 to 3:00
Monday - Closed (by appointment only)

Some of our adoptable cats & kittens can also be seen at Pet Smart in Somers Point, NJ on a daily basis. Our dogs are also at Pet Smart every Saturday from 10:00AM-Noon!

Our Adoption Process...

An application must be completed for adoption of one of our pets. The application asks adopters to provide a vet reference and personal references. A home check may be done if deemed necessary, usually for first time pet owners. Our adoption fee of $175.00 for dogs over 1 year old, $250.00 for puppies, and $75.00 for kittens and cats.

All of our pets are adopted up to date with their vaccinations, micro-chipped and registration of the micro-chip for the life of the pet. We also offer assistance with basic training issues for the life of the dog as part of the adoption fee. All pets are neutered/spayed or if they are too young they are fostered with the adoptive family until this has been completed.
