My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Matador is a big overgrown 1yr old Cane Corso Mastiff puppy who is currently about 95lbs, and will likely top out around 105-110lbs. Matador has the most adorable smashy face with a slight under-bite. This big black Corso boy has natural ears and tail. His temperament is very typical Corso, but he is very well socialized with people and other dogs, and he is used to being out around town.
Matty was rescued at 3.5 mo old from the Lancaster shelter just moments before he was to be put down. Matador was rescued and initially adopted from as a 3.5mo old puppy back in February 2014 by a wonderful family; sadly, through no fault of his own, his family had to return him to the rescue a few months ago because their living and family situation changed. Matty returned to his original foster home and has been happily living there for the past 4months.
Matador is a giant baby. He gets along with people of all ages and spent the past 6mo in a home with two young children; however, due to his size and energy level, Matador is only available for adoption to families with older children as he has no awarenss of his size, which makes him unsafe for young children. Matador likes to play with other dogs; however, he is a big over-grown puppy who likes to play rough, which some dogs, especially smaller dogs, don't appreciate. For this reason, he is not a dog park dog, as some dogs don't appreciate his play style. Matador would love an active playful large-breed sister. He is currently best friends with a 2yr old female Chessie and a stocky Pittie. He does really well with female dogs and playful male dogs. Matador could live in a home with a dog-savvy cat. He is curious about cats, but he shows no aggression towards them.
Matty is such a good boy. He is fun and active outside (he likes to play rough), but he can settle down nicely indoors provided that he is well exercised. Matador is crate-trained, and can sleep through the night in his crate. Matty is pretty chill when out and about on a leash, and he likes to sit and observe the action around him. He like to play with toys and he LOVES bully strips and PB Kongs. He also loves to play fetch. Matador loves the water and likes to swim. Matador does not like to be left alone outside unless there is a dog playmate present. When Matador gets tired, which takes a lot (seriously, he can go for miles and miles), he gets snuggly and lets you smoosh his adorable face. Matador loves being out and about around town. He is already a South Park regular and he even handled the craziness of the Petco Park Dog Days of Summer event. Matty bonds very quickly to people and he is a very loyal dog. He likes to learn new things. He knows to sit for his treats, lay down, wait, and bed. He walks beautifully on a leash when wearing a prong, but he does pull if not wearing his training collar. Matador needs an active family who will hike, run, and walk him thorughout the day. He can do 5-7miles with ease. Matador did basic obedience classes and puppy socialization classes with his former family. He is a smart boy who is eager to please. He is very gentle when accepting treats and he doesn't appear to have any food issues. Matador is a guardian breed dog; thus, it is imperative that he be adopted by a family that will work to keep him well-socialized and well-trained. Matador needs a confident and dog-savvy owner. Ideally, we are looking for a home with Mastiff, or at least bully-breed, experience. Due to his breed, Matty is not a dog for a first time dog owner. While Matador has a fantastic temperament for a Corso, he needs a strong owner who will actively work to ensure that Matty remains a great, well-socialized, and balanced dog. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, dewormed, licensed, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Also included is a free health check by our licensed veterinarian. The dogs that come out of our program are very well socialized when they leave, both with people, and other dogs. It is up to the new owners to maintain this. All of our dogs, young and old are crate trained. This gives the new owner a head start for house breaking, and to curb any separation anxiety and or destructive behavior. Most of our dogs are in foster homes and we are able to tell you lots about each of their personalities. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An adoption fee, application, and contract are required. Please direct all questions to smashfacerescue911@yahoo. All our dogs can be seen 7 days a week by appointment ONLY. We are located in Van Nuys 91405. If you are interested in setting up a day and time please send us an e-mail.

Thank you in advance,
