My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marsh's biography was written by a Hearts of Gold volunteer that has spent time pet sitting him.

"He has everything a dog owner could possibly want from a pet - a stellar personality, good looks, house trained, loves people, well mannered, comes when called...the list just goes on and on. Although you should probably be forewarned of at least one bad habit...if he thinks you're about to leave him, he will roll over for a belly rub to sucker you into spending just a few more precious minutes with him. Being just a little silly is one of his great traits! Overall, Marsh is just nothing short of being an absolutely wonderful dog, who can always bring a smile to your face (and often has a happy doggy smile on his own face.)

Marsh has fabulous manners, and loves things that have the characteristics of his namesake - the Marshmallow! Big, comfy couches and soft, fluffy dog beds to lounge on are among Marsh's favorite things...along with air conditioning! (He loves to be outside in the sun, but once it starts getting really hot, he may dash back inside to the cool air!) He's so well behaved, too. Even when he was at the shelter, held for months as "evidence" in a animal cruelty case, he played really well with a 4 year old boy and the other people that looked at him. He loves hugs and snuggles, but he doesn't have to be right on you all the time. And it's my understanding he's done well with most of the other dogs he's been around so far, although my work with him has been mostly one on one. As the petsitter, my time with him has been a little limited. But I seriously can't believe this dog has not found a forever family yet! Every time I see him, he is just so happy...but still, so gentle and always a good dog. He never jumps on me or gets really hyper, although he's always ready for a little attention if you're up for it. He likes to play, but never gets rough with me, and he hasn't been obnoxious when I've told him playtime is over. And he's so alert to the things around him, but doesn't seem to overreact when he hears something strange. He'll definitely pay attention to it, though, and he will let you know if he thinks it's something you should pay attention to. I just really can't come up with enough good things to say about him.

Marsh is a cancer survivor. He had two mast cell tumors removed a few months ago. He is on a homeopathic remedy (prescribed by Dr. Pat Bradley, DMV) and an herbal formula that is specifically formulated for dogs that have had mast cell cancer. We would like for Marsh’s new family to continue the same regimen that he is on now and to continue working with Dr. Bradley to keep his immune system strong and working optimally. He is a very impressive dog that could fit right into a wide range of families with his laid back personality. Is he right for you or someone you know? Email heartsofgoldpitrescue@yahoo.com for more information on meeting this incredible dog.
