Say hello to Richie... after being abandoned at a local dog park, he found himself in doggy jail. But the kind folks at the shelter saw something special in Richie, and reached out to us to save him.  Richie is about 7-8 years old & sweet as can be. He is a happy, older gentleman who enjoys quiet lap time, loves walks & gets along with other dogs.

Richie is 7 pounds of adorable!  This little guy is quite charismatic.  There is something about him that makes people smile. Though he is cautious with his trust, once earned, Richie bonds very deeply with those who care for him.   He has a very playful streak but most of the time is happy to follow us around the house and spend time on our laps or sharing a dog bed with his canine buddies.

Richie knows to do his business outside.  He sleeps through the night just fine and wakes up happy and playful. Richie’s barking is very low for his breed and mostly barks briefly in happiness when his favorite people return home. Richie will be a great companion to anyone with love to give.  He does not need much space so an apartment or condo would be fine.  He likes walks and is great on the leash.

Richie is neutered, microchipped & up to date on vaccines.  His adoption fee is $250.

All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.

We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience.  To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.

All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.

Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.

About Second Chance Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Second Chance Dog Rescue was formed to fulfill a desperate need in the community to Rescue, Rehabilitate & Re-home homeless dogs from the over-crowded local shelters, and from families who can no longer take care of their dogs (on a case-by-case basis only).

Our program is based on foster care, and all rescued dogs spend their first days at a loving foster home where they receive personalized care. As part of our program, we ensure that all dogs are vaccinated, are spayed or neutered, and have been socialized by their foster family. In addition, Second Chance Dog Rescue provides support for potential new owners and monitors progress for both new pet parents and their adopted dogs. This helps guarantee that our dogs go to good, loving, forever homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visit our website at for a list of upcoming Adoption Events. Additionally, our foster parents may schedule one on one meetings with potential owners and provide a personalized adoption experience.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an Adoption Questionnaire to be completed - whether online or in person - before meeting any of our dogs. Upon approval of the Questionnaire, a potential adopter will be required to complete an Adoption Contract and pay adoption fees. All of our adoptions start with the first 2 weeks as a 'trial' period, to ensure the adoption is a good fit. Adoption of a puppy may require a refundable training deposit, which will be refunded upon completion of training with a Certfied dog trainer, and submission of certificate of completion to our office.
