My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly is a very affectionate, well behaved, loyal little girl. Although she is approximately a year old, she is very well behaved and has obviously come from a home where someone spent a good deal of time with her. She is great with other dogs of all sizes and is good with strangers and with people of all ages including children. Although we have not cat tested Dolly, we believe from her behaviours that she would be fine with cats. Dolly currently weighs just 9 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Dolly is a very sweet, calm and loving little dog that is just happy to be around people. She has been a fantastic dog to foster and would make an excellent companion. Although she is only 9 lbs she does not see herself as a little dog. She does like to be wherever we are but she is often able to go and amuse herself or initiate play with our other two big dogs. She often instigates play with our two big dogs and seems great with any size dog. She has also been good with our two young daughters and they are able to pick her up and carry her around with no issues. She is great with strangers and although she will alert you when someone comes into the home, she is very friendly with everyone.

Dolly is a loving little dog. Her favourite thing is being with her people. She loves to cuddle up on the couch, or preferably your lap and sleep and be near you most of the time. Occasionally she will leave the room and sit on her own, but she is with us most of the time. She is very quiet in the home and only barks if someone comes to the door. She is not shy at all and doesn't seem to have any fear of anything. She is not the typical small dog and seems to be pretty tough and can hold her own with our much larger dogs. She thinks she is a big dog. She loves running around outside, but is very low key and calm in the house.

Dolly was obviously well socialized in her previous life and someone spent time training her as she is very well behaved. She knows her basic obedience such as "sit", "come" however as she loves to be outside, she will sometimes pretend she doesn't hear you when you are calling her to come back inside. She is fully leash trained and walks nicely on a leash. She is fully house trained and has never had an accident in the home. Due to the fact that she is absolutely no problem in the home, we have never crated her, not even at night to sleep or when we are out of the house. When we first leave with our other dogs she will whine for a bit but then she goes to the couch and sits and watches until we return. She is very food motivated which is good but she never begs for food which is great. She is not a fan of going in the car and we have tried leaving her loose and crating her for a trip but she is not happy. She will try to escape the yard and because of her size you do need to ensure that your yard is securely fenced. She is very small so we had to put up boards at the bottom of our fence.

Dolly would make a great pet for anyone that is looking for a low maintenance small dog. She would do well with a retired person or in a family situation but there should be someone that is home more often than not. Although she is good with children, she is probably better suited to older children because of her size. Other pets in the home are not an issue and she would love another friendly dog to play with. She is just a wonderful little companion that you could take anywhere and who would love to be someone's little buddy.

If you think Dolly would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
