My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Falcor is one of our recent puppy mill rescues- he is 3-4 years old and a little timid but very sweet and already learning to enjoy human attention.

These 4 special little dogs came to us this week from a PA puppy mill and were lucky enough to be freed thanks to our friends at No More Tears PuppyMill Rescue! They lived their entire lives in cages, their only purpose to have litter after litter of puppies to be sold at pet stores across the country. They are all timid but sweet natured, love other dogs and will be getting medical care for the first time in their lives this week. Falcor, a 4 year old male Pomeranian mix, is a sweet playful little guy and in the best shape of the group. Flossy is an 8 year old black and white cocker who is the most in need of treatment- she has severely infected teeth, ear infections, and multiple mammary tumors as a result of not having been spayed earlier, and she is filthy and matted. Freya, a 2 year old chocolate and white cockapoo, was lucky enough to be freed at a young age because her most recent litter of pups were all born with hernias (which costs the millers $ to fix so they can sell them, making her not valuable to them). And poor 9 year old bichon Flurry just had her most recent (and final!) litter of 6 week old "designer" cavachon pups taken away (likely headed to pet stores to be sold as Christmas presents) and is still full of milk and confused as to why her pups were taken away yet again. All 4 of these dogs will be getting spayed/neutered, updated on shot, heartworm tested, dewormed, de-flea'ed, treated for ear infections and getting dentals as needed and will soon be ready to start their new lives as beloved companions instead of moneymakers...they will be looking for calmer homes with another friendly dog to help them adjust and learn to enjoy life in a real home. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested. Providing medical care for these neglected pups is expensive, but so worth it to see them learn to trust and experience love and kindness for the first time...please consider donating toward their care so we can keep helping deserving dogs like these! Donations can be made through paypal on our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com or mailed to Second Chance, PO Box 221, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. Thank you!

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
