My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Courtesy Listing** Biography submitted by Miska Shaw, Shelby’s foster mom:

Shelby is a female mix (probably part shepard). She is approximately 2 years old, 50lbs, HW neg, fully vaccinated, licensed in Shelby County and spayed.

Personality/Behavior: Shelby loves to cuddle and be petted! She is fully house broken (no accidents in the 9 months she has been fostered) and gets along great with her foster mom’s others 2 female dogs. She likes to play and has a lot of energy – even after a full day at day camp. Shelby has learned some commands such as sit and “out” (meaning go out of the kitchen). She is not food aggressive.

Shelby is occasionally crated during the day, but most of the time she is out and about with the other dogs. When she is in the crate, she does not mind it all and does not bark or whine to be let out. She needs a little work on her leash walking. She cannot be let off leash at a big, fenceless dog park, because she will run too far and get lost. However, she does fine at the City of Memphis dog park which is smaller and fenced in.

Placement: Shelby’s perfect home would have 1 other dog or no dogs at all, no young children, a nice-sized, fenced in yard (that is escape-proof), an owner who is home some during the day and has time to play with her/walk her every day. She loves to be petted and will even nudge the other dogs out of the way while they are being petted. She is getting better at this, but it is obvious that she wants to be the center of attention!

Background: She was found wandering in the street right around the corner from the Memphis Animal Shelter on 9/13/13. After an intense search, an owner was never found.

In conclusion … She is a great dog and ready to make someone’s life great! Her foster mom cannot give her the attention she needs due to long work hours, nor can she afford to keep her. Contact Miska at miskashaw@gmail.com for more information.
