Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID
My name is Cory and I need your help! You see I somehow found myself up at a dog shelter and my family didn’t come to find me. Now I’m with a great lady who is my foster mom through Fuzzy Pawz Rescue but I really need a family of my very own. I am a 5 year old male Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I am pretty darn adorable if I do say so myself!
I really like people and will snuggle up with you if you sit down; I LOVE to get pet and to sit with my human friends. I really need a home without small children, over 6 years please as younger than that and they kind of freak me out.
I like to play and I LOVE stuffed squeaky toys! I will do just about anything you ask for my favorite toys! I like to play, play, play and then I will pick them all up and put them in one big pile! Did I mention I LOVE toys and my foster mom says I’ll go to my new home with my favorites!
I know my basic manners: sit, come, no and wait. I am working on learning more since I am such a smart boy. I am house trained and go in my crate on command. I love to go for rides in the car and I walk pretty well on the leash (sometimes I still get excited and pull). I need daily exercise to keep me at my best!
I would be happiest in a home where I was the only dog or with another quiet dog. While I have a medium-high energy level, other dogs who are high energy or multiple dogs make me really nervous and I admit I can be kind of snarky with them. Now let’s talk about cats and other small critters, I like them a little too much. I have a strong prey drive so I need a home without small critters.
I am searching for a family that can also deal with my medical condition. It’s called Immune Hemolytic Anemia; it is a blood disorder that sometimes makes antibodies, stick to the red blood cells and cause the body to believe the red blood cells are a "foreign invader". This causes the immune system to "kick in", attack the red blood cells and destroy them. There is an amazing website about the disorder here: http://users.cloudnet.com/jdickson/. I need to have blood work done every 6 months and if I begin to get ill I will have to take daily medication (it’s cheap) until it goes back into remission.
I recently had blood work done and the doctors said I’m in remission for now and with a healthy diet, the correct exercise and a home where I won’t run into any sick animals and I will live a long and happy life. My new family will need to understand I can’t go some of the places that other dogs get to go: the dog park, doggie day care or even hiking in the foothills. Due to my disease if I get injured I may have to have another blood transfusion so I only walk and play in safe areas. I also can’t have vaccinations so my new family will have to be careful about where I go.
I hope you are my perfect family; I know it is a lot to ask for a special needs boy like me but I promise I’m worth it!
Love,
Cory
P.S. My friends at Fuzzy Pawz Rescue thought everyone should know that I am not currently neutered due to my health but my new family will have to do so in a few months. I am not current on my vaccinations as I can’t have any.
Of you can offer me a home they just need to complete an adoption application at: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/
