My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"DICKORY" is a cute little male Chihuahua mix and looks like a red fox! He's about 3 years old, weighs 10 lbs, housebroken, crate trained, and gets along great with all of the dogs and kitties here at his foster home. Dickory is very sweet and has a fun personality, and doesn't bark much at all. His cuddliness and good behavior conned me into letting him sleep in my bed one night on a trial basis. He was such a good boy, that he earned a permanent position for snooze-time. Dickory sometimes sleeps in a deep, comfy dog bed on the end of the bed, but he really loves sleeping under the covers and scootches himself all the way down to my feet. He's such a little character - if he is laying in his crate, for example, and I cover him with a fleece blanket, he will stick his head underneath the fleece and spin round and round until he is totally covered up and hiding - and there he stays for a little nap!

Dickory came to one of the high kill shelters in Southern Indiana as a stray, and was there a couple weeks before being transported up north to Rover Rescue. There was also 2 other dogs at that shelter named, you guessed it: Hickory & Doc! Rover also received "Doc" in that transport, but not Hickory - who must have been adopted down in Indiana.

It took an entire week here at his new foster home for Dickory to finally come out of his shell, and start acting playful, with little soft toys or chewing on Nylabones. He did have his teeth cleaned when he first came to Rover Rescue, so it could be that his gums were still a little sore. Dickory also undoubtedly felt a little stressed and worried from his long journey up north from the noisy dog shelter in Southern Indiana, then to a large van filled with 20+ barking dogs & meowing cats, coming up to Rover Rescue-land, then to a veterinary clinic for neuter surgery and vaccinations, and finally to a new foster home here in Rover-land with all new dogs and cats to meet and get used to. Dickory is now one of the gang and fits in perfectly! He has his little daily routines, and even loves playing with a tiny 4 month old puppy who is almost his size.

Dickory would make a wonderful, loving companion for anyone looking for a little love-bug to sit on their lap and comfort them. He's a darling little boy who just wants to find his forever home and give and receive happiness for many years to come. Dickory is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, on monthly heartworm preventative, and comes with free micro-chipping and registration. Dickory's adoption fee is $200 (cash or check).
