My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brooke is one of the sweetest, most unassuming dogs ever. She is gentle, quiet, affectionate, and very appreciative of any attention she receives. Her owners state she is a Boxer/German Shepherd Dog mix though she is obviously a purebred mutt :D

This sweet girl of around two years old was surrendered to a shelter with her eight pups and it is very obvious she was not fed nearly enough. She was so skinny when we first got her you could count all of her ribs! She is working her way back to a healthy weight and should weigh about 55 pounds then.

Brooke is great on lead and is very submissive, being quick to roll over on her back for a belly rub. She is great with all of the other dogs in her foster home - small and large. She is even great with the family cat. Brooke sleeps through the night in a crate without a peep. We believe she is house-trained as well. We have never even heard her bark once! This girl will make a great addition to any home no matter the ages of the humans who live there.

If you are interested in adopting Brooke please go to our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and click on Adoption Process. You can read about what we need from you on that page and find the link for the online adoption application.

All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live.

Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
