Facts about Peanut

  • Breed: Beagle Mix
  • Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Peanut, the beagle formerly known as Trinity, was living happily in a home for 6 years when her owner developed health problems and could no longer keep her. She is a playful and affectionate, and loves to lay on the sofa with you with her head on your chest. Peanut loves her male foster sibling, but does not care for other female dogs. She feels threatened by strange dogs she encounters on her walks and will bark. For that reason, we think she'd be best in a home with a fenced yard where being taken for a walk is not the norm. Peanut is crate trained and housebroken and makes a great companion for her humans. Another male dog would be wonderful company for her. We would really like to see Peanut in a permanent situation soon.

About Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland. Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland is dedicated to helping all beagles in need. Most of the dogs that come into the rescue are hunter rejects, either because they do not want to hunt, or because they are too old or simply ill. Our goal is to rehabilitate these wonderful companion dogs and place them in forever loving homes. We are a network of foster homes and rely solely on the dedication of volunteers. Our motto is: "Hug your hound, don't take him to the pound."

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a centralized location, but you can visit our website to find out when and where we hold our adoption events (usually twice a month). We also take part in special fairs and events. You can come and meet with some of our dogs then.
If you see a dog on our website that you are interested in, we request that you first fill out our Application and submit it electronically.

Our Adoption Process...

We require submission of an online application. If all requirements are met, we do a home visit and check the vet reference (when it applies). Please refer to our website to see the kinds of questions we ask. We ask for a tax-deductible adoption donation of $300. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their shots (rabies, distemper and parvo, bordetella), are heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative, micro-chipped and de-wormed.
