My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Mark, I'm 7 years old and a boxer mix, my best friend Monkey is 14 years old cattle dog mix. Our owner passed away back in July and we ended up being taken to the shelter, we were in really bad shape and the people were wanting to end our lives the next day when a nice lady came to save us. She took us home and bathed us, fed us, gave us a warm loving home to feel safe again.

I was diagnosed with heartworm and was skin and bones and my friend Monkey had real bad skin allergies and yeast which caused her to loose some of her fur. The nice lady who saved us contacted several local rescues to help us so that I could get treatment for heartworm and Monkey could get medical treatment for her skin issues. After a week or so an" Angel" came into our lives Heidi with Boxer Butts and Other Mutts stepped up and rescued us. We were so happy that we could get the medical treatment we needed. That was a few months ago, I have now finished my heartworm treatment and I'm feeling so much stronger and happier now. My bestie, Monkey, doesn't have such a bad issue with her skin any more, she still has some issues but not as bad. I love my best friend Monkey, she and I have been through a lot together. We sleep side by side and miss each other if one of us has to go to the vet. We play together and have been living in a foster home with five other dogs. We get along with them pretty well, sometimes Monkey will get a little attitude if one of the other dogs try to take a bone she is chewing on but she will only growl under her breath and show her teeth. She and I have never been in any aggressive situation. We love to run and play outside and take walks on our leashes. Monkey will sometimes play ball if she can beat the other dogs to the tennis ball and she will bring the ball back to you if she's not distracted by other dogs.

We are inside dogs, our foster mom has made us a nice warm and soft bed to sleep on in her bedroom at nights and moves it into the living room during the day so we can rest on it. At night we get tucked in and sleep all night until our foster mom gets up in the morning. We don't have accidents in the house unless we are sick. I will walk to the door to let you know when I need to go out and Monkey will do the same thing or just wait until I need to go out. We haven't been around many young children since we have been with our foster mom, but we are open to meeting new people.

People call us seniors, but we really are lovers! We love to be petted and have our belly rubbed. We don't bark much unless the other dogs start barking and we want to be part of the crowd!

We would love to find a loving forever home where we can live out the rest of our lives. We would be so very happy to have a family where one or both of our people are home during the day. Our foster mom is home with us most of the time and when she has to leave for a few hours we are fine at home alone, but we are so very happy when she comes home. We have never seen the inside of a create since coming to our foster home, except when I was sick and had to spend the night at the vet.

Oh did I mention, we enjoy going for rides in the car? We don't get car sick or anything, we just enjoy looking out the window or once in awhile looking over your shoulder while you are driving.

Our foster mom loves us and has said that we could come back to visit her if our new family goes on vacation or needs help with us so we would never have to be in a kennel again.

If you have been waiting all your life for the two perfect senior dogs, then you have found us! We must be adopted together and we are besties and we are not one without the other.

If you are interested in adopting Mark and Monkey please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption application. Their adoption fee is $250.00 for both dogs
