Porsche's Story...
Adoption fee on this dog is $300.

Porsche aka Momma is a sweet female who recently raised the five luxury speedster pups, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, DeLoreon, and Maserati. She was surrendered to a Sacramento shelter in December 2013, almost ready to give birth, but nothing was known of her background. She now weighs 67 lbs and is approximately 2 years old.

Although asymptomatic in February, she tested positive for heartworms and has now been treated and off restriction from physical activity. She is our Rainbow Fund dog and donations to help with her treatment are always welcome and sorely needed. Her foster mom describes her energy level as moderate.

She has good house manners, walks well on a leash, and is mostly housebroken. Porsche rides well in the car and is good on a leash. Her crate is used for security purposes and she will wait patiently in it if left inside while no one is home. She also prefers to sleep in a crate at night. Porsche is food motivated and while she doesn't always respond to all commands, she will do as asked if a dog treat is involved. Four dog-savvy cats in her current foster home have had no problems with Porsche around them.

Socialization has been a priority for Porsche to build her confidence, however, noises, fast movement, and large moving objects may startle Porsche and she runs from them. She meets new people very cautiously, but once she realizes they mean no harm, she enjoys getting pet and massaged.

Porsche would do best in a home with another confident male dog. She follows the other dog's lead and will relax with newcomers when she sees the other dog go up to greet them. Her adopter must be able to read her signals and continue to further her confidence level rather than coddle her timid side. Porsche would be best in a quiet adult home.

This dog is a Level 3. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our GCGSR Dogs page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Porsche, a Sacramento German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Sacramento, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Sacramento.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sacramento already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sacramento breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sacramento paves the way for another one to be saved.
